Widespread support for all the families and not just a prize reserved for the most deserving students. Every employee will in fact receive a study grant for each child enrolled in upper school and university.
A total of 225 students have received the grant, with 164 currently attending upper school and 61 studying at universities.
The award ceremony took place virtually, with a live-streamed event open to all Group families. A meeting that saw the De Rigo family and all employees joined by a special guest: Gianmarco Tamberi, high jump gold medallist at Tokyo 2020.
A wonderful example of tenacity, commitment and courage, and a highly inspirational figure for today’s youth. Over the course of his career, Tamberi has in fact had to come to terms with a very serious ankle injury sustained whilst attempting to beat an Italian record, which he himself had previously set. An injury that cost him his participation at the 2016 Rio Olympics, yet did not stop him from picking himself back up - with incredible determination - and returning to compete, winning his historic gold at Tokyo 2020.
"A dream worth waking up for in the morning, a dream for which we can't wait to get out of bed is the most important and most wonderful thing that you can have. At the beginning of my career, I thought the Olympics were a dream, something very distant, almost unattainable for a sportsman. But I had that dream in my head and I wanted to achieve it. My goal was to transform it into reality. Talent is of course essential, but it’s not enough. You need to put more in: dedication, desire to succeed, method, the ability to listen and surround yourself with the right people. It's our motivation that makes the difference - how much hunger we have to achieve that dream and the choices that we are willing to make to get there. Life often puts obstacles in your way and this is something I know only too well, but I have always persevered and moved forwards because I promised myself that until the very last day, that last jump at those Olympics, that it would be possible to reach the top of the world. The difference is made when you believe in it. You need to dream big!” commented Gianmarco Tamberi.
“The encouragement of young people, their education and health are the inspiring criteria behind the Fondazione, which, we as the De Rigo family, firmly wanted to establish. An even more heartfelt commitment in this difficult period of post-pandemic recovery. A complicated and economically demanding time, especially for families. This is why we feel that a small contribution to the study and training of young people can represent both tangible support for every family and moral encouragement for every youngster to commit themselves to the realisation of their aspirations” - commented Barbara De Rigo, President of the Fondazione De Rigo H.E.ART Onlus.
