Longarone, 28 August 2017 - De Rigo is proud to be one of the few companies in Italy (the only company in the eyewear sector) to have attained ‘Known Consignor’ status from ENAC, the Italian Civil Aviation Authority responsible for certification, surveillance and control as well as the technical regulations within the Italian civil aviation sector. The status awarded to the De Rigo Logistics Plant in Longarone (Italy) applies to companies that manufacture and/or distribute goods intended to travel as air cargo and will enable the company to ship the goods faster by bypassing security checks at the airport.
In fact, in recent years, civil aviation security standards have been made significantly stricter and goods shipped by air are subject to various security checks before being loaded aboard the aircraft, thereby translating into losses in terms of both time and money. With ‘Known Consignor’ status, De Rigo ensures the compliance of its structure and company organisation with pre-determined standards that specifically concern the security of the sites and the training of the personnel who will come into contact with the cargo to be shipped. On the basis of this, the company has been entered into an online European database and will avoid airport checks, which will subsequently lead to faster shipping times and substantial savings.
ENAC awarded De Rigo ‘Known Consignor’ status following various checks and a rigorous process involving Logistics Director Elisabetta Pradal, as well as division personnel, who were selected and subject to specific professional training as required by the relevant community regulations.
Companies that, like De Rigo, willingly apply for this status recognise the importance of air traffic safety and by committing themselves like so, are jointly responsible for on-board security.
