YALEA, I was a Sari, the new project for Indian women

The all-female De Rigo house brand, which combines the cause of women globally with virtuous projects dedicated to their empowerment, takes the field with a new initiative.

Longarone, 19 April 2022 – Yalea, the fourth brand in the De Rigo portfolio, is increasingly at the forefront to support projects that encourage the growth, affirmation and independence of women, all over the world.

In addition to offering sunglasses and prescription styles designed to enhance the personality and face shape of each and every woman, Yalea actively promotes the contemporary female universe by supporting women’s freedom of choice, fostering their talent and rewarding their personal beauty. A mission that the De Rigo brand incorporates into all of its activities, not just those dedicated to its customers, but also those aimed at opticians.

I was a Sari is just the latest in order of time. An ethical entrepreneurial reality that Yalea has chosen to support and promote the world over. Starting with the recovery and re-use of traditional Indian women's clothing, I was a Sari has created a line of unique, handcrafted and exquisite accessories. A programme which has translated into an authentic employment opportunity for more than 85 Indian women and which combines artisanal training with real independence.

Yalea has chosen to purchase the pochette bags made by I was a Sari as gifts for its own customers and opticians throughout the world, offering concrete assistance for the empowerment of Indian women.

An important project, which joins the recent collaboration with the international organisation Women for Women, in support of Nigerian women. Yalea’s support has in fact allowed for the inclusion of 100 marginalised women from the Plateau - one of the poorest regions in Nigeria - in the ‘Stronger Women, Stronger Nations’ training programme.
