Yalea – a house brand of the De Rigo Group, which has always promoted women's empowerment around the world – renews its commitment for the fourth consecutive year alongside Women for Women International, a humanitarian organisation that has been supporting women and girls in situations of vulnerability since 1993.

After contributing to the support of Afghan women in 2024, Yalea continues its commitment with a new project aimed at adolescents, offering them concrete resources to build a better future through the Stronger Women, Stronger Nations programme.

Since the Taliban's return to power in 2021, the rights and freedoms of women and girls in Afghanistan have been severely restricted, with devastating consequences on their education, economic autonomy, and participation in society. The lack of opportunities makes them particularly exposed to the risks of poverty, violence and forced marriages. This project is therefore an urgent and necessary response. This project is therefore an urgent and necessary response. Women for Women International, with a long experience in supporting over 570,000 women survivors of war and conflict, has adapted its training programme to respond to the particular needs of adolescents, offering a rights- and resilience-centred approach.

The project, designed to meet the specific needs of girls aged 16-17, who already find themselves in adult roles in difficult contexts, aims to offer comprehensive training in the social and economic fields. During a course of 10-12 months, participants will have the opportunity to acquire fundamental skills, including improving health and well-being, developing economic and entrepreneurial autonomy, acquiring financial and professional skills, building support networks and strengthening awareness of their rights.

Through interactive educational sessions, workshops and moments of discussion in safe environments, the programme will allow girls to develop self-confidence and decision-making skills, essential elements to transform daily challenges into opportunities for growth. Each participant will receive monthly financial support and a starter kit for entrepreneurial activities, key tools to foster access to new income opportunities.

Barbara De Rigo, Chief Marketing Officer at De Rigo, commented: “Supporting women means contributing to a real and lasting change. At Yalea, we don't just celebrate women's beauty and strength, we want to offer concrete help to women facing the toughest challenges. Supporting Women for Women International for this new project dedicated to Afghan teenagers is a source of great pride for us.”

With this initiative, Yalea continues to promote women's independence and growth, reaffirming its commitment to women everywhere.
