ESCADA AND DE RIGO PRESENT THE "ESCADAFEDORA" SUNGLASSES BY FEDORA MEDNARD, WINNER OF THE SUNGLASS DESIGN CONTEST

Aschheim/Munich, 24. January 2013: In summer 2012, ESCADA and its eyewear license partner De Rigo Vision SpA from Longarone/Italy called on students from German universities to create the key style for ESCADA sunglasses for summer 2013. More than 50 lovingly and elaborately created designs were submitted - amongst them a design by fashion student Fedora Mednard (23) from Hamburg which especially thrilled the jury at ESCADA and De Rigo.

The selected sunglass model will be produced as a special edition for the spring/summer 2013 collection and particularly distinguishes itself by the convincing combination of transparency and lightness. The decidedly feminine oversized style has a graduated lens material featured both in the front and the temples: a distinctive design element conveying an appearance of lightness - the sunglasses are in fact almost weightless. They are surrounded by a fine golden frame and bear the small golden double ESCADA "E" on the temples like a jewel.

The „ESCADA Fedora" sunglass model, named after its designer, will be available in ESCADA stores as well as selected opticians for 239 EUR from mid April 2013. The market introduction will be accompanied by further PR activities as well as a launch event with Fedora Mednard and representatives of ESCADA and De Rigo Vision SpA in the ESCADA store in Munich. In addition, the young designer will be given the opportunity to deepen her knowledge and expertise and to experience the professional world of fashion during a six-month internship in the ESCADA design atelier.

Daniel Wingate, Fashion Director at ESCADA, on the winning model: "Fedora's design is glamorous, feminine, modern and elegant: a style representing ESCADA's brand identity in an innovative way. I believe that we have found a new talent with Fedora and are happy to be able to support her entry into the world of fashion." Fedora Mednard adds: "Sunglasses are of special interest to me. After all, they can complete and round-off an outfit. I wanted to create a model reflecting ESCADA's brand identity while interpreting it in my own way."
