The agreement was signed at the world's leading Watch and Jewellery Show held in Basel
De Rigo, one of the leading actors in the eyewear sector, and Chopard, the prestigious manufacturer of Haute Horologerie and high jewellery, announced today the anticipated renewal of the licensing agreement for the design, production and worldwide distribution of prescription frames and sunglasses. The licensing agreement provides for continuation of the terms and conditions of the current contract, which was originally due to expire in December 2010 and will now expire in December 2015.
Mr Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard commented: "It's with great satisfaction that Chopard renewed the agreement with De Rigo, with whom we share the common values of family owned businesses geared for a long term vision of quality, exclusivity and selectivity".
Mr Ennio De Rigo, president of De Rigo, commented: "Chopard is one of the most important luxury brands worldwide, and one for which we see opportunities for continued growth. We are therefore pleased to have come to an early renewal of this important partnership. In our view, this confirms that our recognized leadership in design, production quality and global distribution makes De Rigo the ideal partner for the more demanding luxury brands."
Chopard eyewear designed by De Rigo Vision stands out on the world scene, also among the VIPs with the keenest eye for fashion and luxury. Elton John chose the Swiss maison as the protagonist of a charity gala organised by the EJ AIDS Foundation - which he chairs - held at the time of this year Los Angeles Academy Awards. During the gala, funds were collected by auctioning a number of Chopard sunglasses purposely designed by Julianne Moore, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher and Brooke Shields. The initiative was a resounding success.
